Let's Start with "Frogs!"

This is going to be a pet project of mine and hopefully will become a pet project for you some of you readers and creative thinkers out there as well.

When I was growing up, many of my weekends were spent browsing around antique stores and old farms that had old-fashioned "barn sales," which were my favorite.  Growing up in rural Maryland, we had plenty of farms to visit on the weekends, were my mom and dad bargained with the sellers and usually brought the cost down to their affordability level.  We all left happy and excited about our new purchases.  Once home, my mother would re-purpose her newly found items into something creative and unique. It always amazed me at how some so ordinary could be turned into some so extraordinary!   And these were the days before Martha Stewart.  My mom is the original Martha Stewart in my eyes!

So here I am, 30 some years later, and I find myself on my days off from work, looking through old salvage yards, antique stores and consignment shops.  The cheaper the better of course, but some places are a bit more spendy and that's where I usually have the best luck.  I love re-purposing, what my husband kindly (not always so kindly) calls "old junk" into something new, unique, and with a creative flare.  That's when I thought it would be fun to share ideas.  I'd be happy to share my ideas here and you can feel free to post your ideas on my facebook page that will directly correlate to Peaceful World's Photobucket blog.

The first project I'll share with you is simple.  I found some old "frogs," (this is what my Gram called them) which were used in floral arrangements to hold the flowers in place.  Most of them have some glue or green tacky putty on the bottoms from being attached to the bottom of vases for so many years.  Clean this puddy off, find a fun picture and viola! You're done!  See, that was easy!

I used mine to help me to highlight my business card keep it standing upright.  You can use yours for baby pictures, pictures of flowers, old photos (my next use), and even for postcards from family members or from your own trip.  Upload photos ideas that you have tried using "frogs" or similar materials to share with others.

Materials needed:

Old floral "frog"
Pictures, postcards, business cards, letters, cards, envelopes, any paper good
That's it!
